Life coaching
What is life coaching?
Unlike counselling, life coaching is proactive and works
with the individual to find solutions to problems. Life Coaching is a
way of looking at someone’s life in a more positive light, it works on
people’s strengths and tries to improve any weaknesses.
How does it work?
Where possible life coaching will take place over the telephone.
During one-hour telephone interviews, the life coach will help the client
discover the issues that they wish to address and will help them set a
number of goals that can enable them to achieve the things they want to
change.
During the sessions the client will have the opportunity
to talk
- about their background
- about their life and experience
- about their hopes and fears for the future.
The life coach will work with the client to identify
and set a number of goals. The goals may vary considerably, and could
include things such as:
- planning a career change
- improving social activities
- learning new skills
- developing communication skills.
Setting goals around the individuals identified need can
help develop confidence and create positive outcomes for the client.
What if I can’t use the telephone?
Face to face interviews can be arranged for individuals
whose disability prevents them from using the telephone.
How long does life coaching last?
The number of one to one sessions will depend on the level
of need identified by the life coach during the first one to one session,
and up to six sessions could be needed over an agreed period of time.
How much does it cost?
Depending on funding arrangements this service is free
to people with a disability and their carers who are in receipt of long-term
welfare benefits. For clients who fall outside this criteria, a charge
will be levied, please click contact us,
